Hi there! I am Katie, and I believe that the best stories are the ones that spark imagination, warm hearts, and maybe teach us a little something along the way — all while keeping us on the edge of our seats!

As a former teacher, I spent years watching kids light up when a story captured their imagination. That magical moment when a reluctant reader suddenly cannot put a book down? That is what I write for.

Penny Pescadusa is my first published book, and it has been such an amazing journey bringing this underwater adventure to life! The story came from a simple question — what if a shy girl woke up one morning mysteriously transformed? What would she do? Where would she go? And most importantly, what would she discover about herself along the way?

When I Am Not Writing

You can find me in my garden (where I talk to my plants — they are great listeners!), crafting something creative, or hiking through the beautiful Texas Hill Country with my husband and four children. We are a family that believes in adventure, whether exploring a new trail or diving into a great book together.

My Writing Philosophy

I write stories that respect young readers and their intelligence while entertaining them. Kids deserve books that make them think, feel, and dream — books with real characters facing real emotions, even if those emotions happen in magical underwater worlds!

Every page I write is crafted with love, a sprinkle of humor, and the hope that young readers will find a piece of themselves in the characters they meet.
